Automate repetitive tasks

You can schedule your backup operations so that they are performed in the most convenient time. You can set a backup job to run only once at the time you specify or make it run regularly.

Backup Platinum has the following options to schedule regular jobs.

  • Run every day. The backup will be repeated every day at the same specified time.
  • Run on selected week days. You can choose any days of week when you want to run the backup. For example, if you want to make backup once a week on weekend, you can select only Saturday. If you want to make it every day except weekends, you can select days from Monday to Friday and exclude Saturday and Sunday.
  • Run on selected month days. This is useful for monthly type of backups.
  • Custom period. In this case you specify any time period in form of days/hours/minutes between two successive backups.

You can schedule each backup item separately. This way you can run each set of files when it is most convenient for you. For example, you can backup some files daily and some files only once a week.

It may happen that at the moment when a scheduled backup job should be processed the system is switched off. In this case Backup Platinum can process it the next time it is started. You can make it start automatically on system startup, so actually it will take place after you switch on the computer.

You may notice that running backup process immediately after the system startup can slow down it. That is why we also have an option to wait N minutes after startup before processing items. It is useful to reduce the system restart time.

In addition you have an option to run a backup job automatically on logon and/or logoff as well as an option to shutdown, logoff or hibernate after the backup completion.

Finally, you can set a backup job to run automatically on any change of specified local files. In this case you do not need to care about schedule at all. Every time you change a file everything is be backed up immediately. You only need to use this option with care, because if you add many big files to a backup item that is scheduled this way, the backup process will consume too many resources.
